Uses: Chamomile tea is commonly used to promote sleep, and also to decrease the severity of anxiety and depression. Many people add Chamomile flowers or powder to bath water to soothe and calm as aromatherapy. This is a wonderful use, since Chamomile is both soothing and potentially beneficial for the moisturization of the skin. Chamomile Flowers as a wash or a compress is also common, especially in hair rinses for blonde hair.

Other common applications include use of Chamomile tea as a digestive aid; for glycemic control; as an anti-inflammatory agent; and for prevention of cancer and heart diseases due to the antioxidant apigenin.

Contraindicated in known allergy to chamomile or other members of the Compositae (or daisy) family.

May cause rare contact allergy and should not be applied near the eyes. Highly concentrated hot tea is noted as emetic.
Avoid concomitant administration of chamomile during iron intake. In cases for which iron supplementation is required, chamomile should not be taken simultaneously with meals or iron supplements.
